PRISM CD 321 GLASS INSULATOR

Description

For auction is a "Prism" CD 321 [010] glass insulator
. It's 5-1/4" high and the umbrella is 6-1/4" in diameter with a smooth base. It's embossed on the
front skirt in an arc
w
ith REGISTERED over TRADE then a rectangular prism design then MARK
. The reverse shows PATENTED in an arc over JUNE 17, 1890 but the date is nearly illegible except for the 1890. There are two
teardrop-shaped bubbles under PATENTED. Over half of the surface was apparently buried for some time, as it appears etched and dulled in appearance. Photo 8 shows contrast between the buried and uncovered areas. There are some whitish marks on the saddle. On the outer umbrella edge there are chips, seen at the extremities of photo 11. One of the four ribs underneath has about 3/8" chipped out of it. The bottom of the skirt has 2 chips, again seen at the extremities of photo 12.
Miscellaneous notes:
I generally evaluate and describe each of my insulators very critically, unlike some sellers who don't adequately describe the condition, have too few photos and use lots of hype. I don't want to be accused of trying to pass off something that it's not. My goal is for every buyer to feel that the insulator looks BETTER in his or her hand than in the photos.
