    Description

    For auction is a CD 143 [080] glass insulator, a Withycombe patent variety, this one being the kind with 69 vertical ridges above the wire groove and 9 left-hand spiral ridges below. I'd gladly pay 0 for one of these in flawless condition but I wonder if there are any out there. Every one I've seen in photos has those ridges looking all beat up. This one has some of what is always typical damage to the ridges but a fine example nonetheless. Photos 1, 2, 9
    and 10
    show the front where the worst damage is, plus they show the CANADIAN PACIFIC RY CO embossing behind the 4th ridge up. I wonder who dreamed up that design element. There are bubbles of various sizes, including a narrow one cutting
    diagonally across the vertical ridges.
    It has a smooth base in good shape.
    The dome has some interesting swirls on the surface. The true color may be a shade less blue than the photos.
    Miscellaneous notes:
    I generally evaluate and describe each of my insulators very critically, unlike too many sellers who don't adequately describe the condition, have too few photos and use lots of hype. I don't want to be accused of trying to pass off something that it's not. My goal is for every buyer to feel that the insulator looks BETTER in their hand than in the photos.
    Since last year when there were so many problems with USPS delivery times, I've usually chosen USPS Priority for shipping. The cost isn't too much more than Parcel Post and buyers have been happy with the fast deliveries.
